Caterpillar is a Fortune 100 company with a reputation for delivering high quality products through an unrivalled global network.   The Wimborne Engineering department is responsible for concept, design, development and production of new propulsion engines and electrical generators. Responsibility is also given to assisting with and solving emerging issues both on the Production Line and with end customers. We also incorporate the Customer Support Team, who serve the customer throughout the life of the product.    As an Engineering Test and Performance Engineer your Job Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Evaluating new products, processes, or systems and communicating the results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units in a relevant manner. Applying theory, learning procedures, and understanding the technology. The Engine Test Daily and annual calibration and Routine maintenance of Test Cell Equipment Build and modification of engine hardware to enable testing Instrumentation and installation of engine in test cell Carry out both manual and automated engine and generator set tests. Testing will include: Engine Performance Measurements Emissions development and testing Electrical validation and performance checks Vibration measurements of on engine components Cooling system performance development and verification Processing of test results and maintaining records thereof Basic analysis of result and reporting to team members Maintain a clean and safe working environment working to LEAN manufacturing principals. The Engineering Test and Performance Engineer must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to engineering functions, key engineering skills, practical application of theory, communications and building a knowledge of Caterpillar’s products, suppliers and customers.   As an Engineering Test and Performance Engineer you will develop your career to move from learning and assisting to fully contributing in assignments that are broader, more complex, and challenging in nature. Demonstrable knowledge of design and design to release processes Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Previous program/project management skills Highly organised and self-motivated   Desirable skills, experience & qualifications you may have; Experience operating engine test beds Experience with gaseous and particulate emissions measurement Experience with standard engine instrumentation and installation of such on engines. Experience of vibration measurement, analysis and other methods. Experience carrying out mechanical fitting on engines and generator sets.
