Description            We are Merlin Entertainments… The name behind world famous attractions including LEGOLAND, SEA LIFE, Alton Towers Resort and Thorpe Park.  Be a part of the Merlin magic by joining the Merlin Corporate team.  We hire and empower smart people who love what they do.  Now’s your chance to join us!    We require a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst to join our Operating Group Finance team working across our Resort Theme Park (RTP) Operating Group.  We are offering flexibility with the location of this role (Poole / Chessington or Alton Towers).   Reporting in to the Finance Director of Resort Theme Parks and managing a financial analyst, you will work with the RTP Managing Director and resort leadership teams to support the achievement of business goals and deliver all aspects of financial reporting.   Providing advice and guidance on financial matters and commercial decision making, key responsibilities will include running the strategic side of processes such as the Capital Plan, Business Plan, Forecast and Budget process.  You will ensure the data submitted by the sites is robust through a process of thorough review and challenge, as well as in line with strategic plans.   You will oversee resort capital control, reviewing board papers and investment appraisals, and control central operating group Capital expenditure. Using professional judgement to draw conclusions from financial data presented, you will need to make recommendations as to the appropriate course of action, looking forward with scenario modelling as well as reporting on the past.     You will need to provide and issue commentary on key financial reports – including weekly trading reports and monthly management accounts.   This role entails multi-site, multi-currency, multi-time period work with both financial and non-financial business drivers, in a multi-cultural context. We are looking for the following skills and experience…   The ideal candidate will be fully qualified with proven experience/skills of financial analysis at a senior level.  You will also possess strong systems skills in Excel and Hyperion to gather, manipulate and present large quantities of data effectively.   You will need a high level of technical knowledge as you'll be the key contact for sites on a host of global issues in a multi-currency environment. Reception/Telephone duties – Provide cover as and when required and ensure all enquiries are relayed to the management team in an appropriate and timely manner To ensure availability and flexibility in order to meet the needs of the business. Be proficient with time management and capable of working with minimum supervision. Some diary management for Senior Managers and Directors Organising meetings, events and conferences Produce and distribute all site due diligence reports to relevant team members / departments Co-ordinate meeting schedule, ensuring all attendees are aware of relevant information. Assisting with the Management of stationery and printers within the Merlin Technical hub, ensuring stationery, paper and ink are always available and appropriate disposal of confidential information Act as first point of call to enquiries over the telephone and provide a professional and  efficient customer service This role is hugely varied and offers autonomy as well as working closely with your team members.     2.   Marketing   Maintain excellent customer relations (Internal & External) Establish good rapport with PAs, administrators and key members of the New Brands team Develop creative, accurate and visually pleasing presentations and reports as requested, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met     3.   Financial Assist in the invoice approval process by checking off received invoices against delivery notes and purchase orders prior to approval. Accurate purchase order, invoice & timesheet processing in a timely manner Ensure POs are in place for all spending, liaising with budget holder for sign-off and that correct codes are applied for all work  4.   Development     Provide general admin cover as required (holidays/absences etc). Promote best practice ‘can do will do’ culture at all times. Proactively seek to improve own skills and knowledge of project development operation in order to continue to deliver an constantly improving service                   5.   People   Liaise with a number of key stakeholder on a regular basis Participate in the appraisal system and be prepared to take on-board positive and constructive feedback.   6.   Health & Safety       Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guest (where appropriate) in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the Law.
