Technician - 185208   Lead Technician - Highways   Location: Stirling House, Annesley, Nottingham   Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit a Lead Technician who will report to the Team Leader Special Projects on the Areas 7 Design Services Contract.   Job Purpose:   To take the lead with the preparation of technical solutions to engineering problems as a member of a design team and as directed.    Key Responsibilities: Undertake services within an engineering environment which may include (but not limited to); scheme investigation, site inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, preparation of tender documents and works/construction inspection and supervision. Prepare drawings using AutoCAD and other software. Assist in the preparation of technical designs in accordance with approved design procedures and systems. Have knowledge of Health and Safety responsibilities and of other company procedures. Be a proactive and collaborative team member, working closely with colleagues and fit seamlessly into a delivery team. Be flexible and proactive and liaise with other teams from other engineering disciplines. Take ownership of own career development and appraisal procedures and undertake additional learning. Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System. Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.     Key Skills and Qualifications: Award of HNC Civil Engineering (or other relevant discipline) or equivalent or relevant demonstrable equivalent experience. Proficient in the production of engineering drawings. Experience in the production of drawings for highway maintenance, highway improvement and highway structures schemes Competent in the use of AutoCAD Experience of relevant design software and standards. Knowledge of and experience in design of highway improvement or maintenance schemes to UK standards Fluent spoken and written English. IT Literate. Able to work under supervision and to seek advice when necessary.   Make the journey. The Role

Kier _____________ is seeking to recruit an Estimator to be based at our Tempsford office. The Estimator will manage the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide variety of projects.


Responsibilities:

Attend pre-construction and construction site visits. Manage the production of enquiry schedules for either civil scope of works / packages from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications issued. Manage the preparation of enquiry documents for either civil scope of works / packages. Identify the tender deliverables required from the project designers. Manage the preparation and issuing of RFI’s (Request for Information) to the Client / Architect. Evaluates and issues RFI responses to the Estimating Team. Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enters into correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements. Prepare a project risk register including risk cost evaluation and risk probability, and arranges and chairs a project risk meeting in the presence of Estimators, Planners, Design Co-ordinators. Arrange with the Chief Estimator the Tender Adjudication Settlement Meeting in the presence of Estimators, Planners and Director(s). Arrange a Tender Handover meeting in the presence of Estimators and projects team. Prepares commercial documents for tender handover to projects team. Lead Tender Adjudication and Presentation to Director and Senior Manager. About Kier:

Key Skills and Qualifications:

HNC/HNC/Degree related to the business division. Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of planning and construction activities. Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project.
