Purpose of the role:

To provide a full administrative service to Partners and fee-earners in the Pensions department.

 

Salary:

Market rate – commensurate with experience.

 

Hours:

Monday – Friday; 9.30 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business.


Assisting Secretaries and fee-earners with administrative duties and support, such as printing, photocopying and scanning. Filing documents/correspondence in hard copy and e-filing. Boxing up files, archiving and room clearing. Producing, editing and formatting short/simple documents, liaising with Document Production Unit (DPU) as necessary. Entering data on internal systems/databases (e.g., InterAction, spreadsheets, etc.) Producing expenses. Billing support, including producing and updating billing spreadsheets, bill narratives and covering letters for fee-earner approval. Entering fee-earner time on DTE. Answering telephones and taking messages. Organising couriers and sorting post. Supporting professional support lawyer and Secretaries with training and events admin. Liaising with Business Services teams. Assisting around the office. Supporting other duties and projects as assigned by Secretaries or fee-earners.

 Qualifications:

Educated to GCSE or O Level standard or equivalent, A Level preferable.

Experience:

Office experience preferred.

Technical Abilities:

Accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation. Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Keyboard skills.

Personal attributes:

Personable, flexible and enthusiastic approach to team work. Good, articulate telephone manner. Self-starter, ability to use initiative and provide proactive support to fee-earners. Ability to pay attention to detail and to check own work. Reliable and well organised. Ability to work under pressure within strict deadlines and takes responsibility for their work.

We currently have an opening for an associate (5 - 7 PQE) to join our growing team. The role is based in our London office. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have compliance and investigation experience from well-regarded City practice, preferably with some criminal experience.

 

The Department: LDR

 

Responsible to: All Partners within the LDR Team

With over 450 litigators throughout the firm covering more than 20 specialist practice areas, Mayer Brown has one of the largest global litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution teams in the world. Litigation and dispute resolution represents a third of our global turnover.


We handle our clients’ most important cases which are of high value, involve reputational issues or are of considerable legal or technical complexity. Our approach is to understand our clients business and work closely with our clients to advise them as to the strengths and weaknesses of their position at the earliest practical stage. Our litigation and dispute resolution practice in London has some 80 lawyers which are fully integrated as part of our full service firm in London. We pride ourselves on our ability to combine specialist litigators with lawyers drawn from other practice areas to create a seamless team with the necessary expertise and experience to tackle any problem. We are also used to coordinating with clients and working with lawyers in other jurisdictions where necessary.


Our litigation practice in London represents clients in all aspects of litigation and arbitration across a wide range of industry sectors, from pre-litigation advisory work to cases before the highest courts in jurisdictions across Europe and the DIFC.

 

Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business.


Key requirements:

Experience of representing corporate and financial institutions in internal and government investigations will be an advantage; Experience of advising on compliance matters, white collar crime, global trade, business ethics and anti corruption matters will be an advantage; Experience in advising on economic sanctions and export controls issues will be an advantage; Experience from a highly ranked City practice or team; Excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style; Ability to work effectively within an established, close-knit team; Demonstrate ability to confidently interact with clients and develop business pro-actively; A commercial and pragmatic outlook; Have attained degree certificate(s) from a reputed institution, achieving a minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent; Be self-motivated and possess a very pro-active attitude; Candidates that have gained increased post-qualification experience will also be expected to demonstrate ability to manage their caseload with little day to day supervision as well as the supervision/management of junior lawyers.

A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 5 - 7 years post qualification experience.
