Are you ready to share your great ideas, great practice and great outcomes? We need leaders who can motivate and inspire our youth offending teams, provide expert supervision and champion best practice. West Sussex YOS is a high performing multi-agency statutory partnership which provides services before and after Court to meet the requirements of the Youth Justice Board. Its primary aim is to prevent offending and reduce reoffending by children and young people. The service works in partnership with a variety of agencies to ensure that children and young people at risk of offending are identified and offered appropriate intervention which address their risks, meet their needs and builds on strengths. This multi-agency approach provides the opportunity to build networks of support and expertise to prevent reoffending, as well as enable positive and sustainable outcomes for children, families, victims and communities. This is an exciting time for West Sussex YOS, as the service is looking to enhance and improve its work with children and families. This will include developing new operational practice, as well as embedding innovative intervention methods and techniques with children and families; including the development of trauma informed practice, building the use of desistance approaches, enhancing the use of restorative justice and ensuring a focus on whole family working. Key elements will be addressing factors such as disproportionality and the exploitation of children. In addition, the YOS will be forming part of a newly developing adolescent service in West Sussex Children & Family Services, which will work with our most vulnerable adolescents to increase their strengths, safety and stability within their community. As part of the management team you will contribute to the development and shaping of services for children, families and victims known to the YOS, including being responsible for leading your team and the wider service through this exciting period of change and improvement. You will need to be passionate about making a difference, using research based innovative practice and promoting excellent decision making to ensure children involved in the youth justice system receive the right intervention at the right time in order to sustain positive outcomes. Working as part of the management team you will provide expert supervision, mentoring/coaching and support the development of reflective and relationship based practice. Your role will be essential to ensuring the service maintains and evidences strong performance against local and national targets. The Community Supervision Team Manager will work alongside four other Team Managers in the YOS. The team you will manage is responsible for the supervision and delivery of all Out of Court disposals, bail or remand programmes and Post Court Orders to all children who are assessed as presenting a low to medium risk of reoffending or serious harm and low to high safety and wellbeing.
